By now I’ve already gone through 4 prototypes for the hoops. But better late than never I guess!

The current version is painted and portable. It hasn’t actually been used in a game yet, but I really like the look here.

same image as last post. here are the two new hoops.

I made these about 2-3 weeks ago but haven’t had the time to take the next steps because of vacation and coaching responsibilities and etc etc. I actually took an older version with me on vacation because I didn’t want to risk damaging these before getting some more pictures. Here’s what one hoop looks like fully disassembled.

fully disassembled hoop. the larger pole extends.

I had another earlier version that couldn’t be torn down to so many pieces. I thought that might make it easier to set up, but it just didn’t feel portable enough. After putting this new one together and taking it apart a bunch, I realized it’s a pretty simple process. I was just overthinking it.

Finally, I tried putting it all in a bag. In the picture you’ll see I used a beach chair sling-bag. I think this general shape will be the go-to in the future, but I’ll need something a bit longer (like an umbrella bag) because the hoops stick out the top.

Two final things I need to consider: the reset cones and the disc. I’d like to make the “cones” myself so that they can fit into the bag too. But I don’t want them to be PVC because someone could trip and hit themselves in the gut with a pole sticking out of the ground. Regular cones are boring. In terms of the disc, I need to get about 20 custom printed. But then where do I put them? Do they go in the bag? More updates to come!
